SCANNER TROUBLESHOOTING
Scanner not working? Start here.
Printing and scanning can use different software, so a printer may work even when its scanner is not detected.
1. Check the basic connection
Wake the device and clear any error on its screen. For USB, reconnect the cable directly. For network scanning, confirm the computer and scanner are on the same network.
2. Choose the correct scan source
In the scan application, select the exact scanner. If you use a document feeder, choose ADF; for a page on the glass, choose Flatbed.
3. Check permissions and destination
Allow the scan application to access files when asked. Select a folder you can write to and make sure there is enough free storage.
4. Restart the scan software
Close the application fully, restart the printer and computer, then try a simple colour or black-and-white scan at a standard resolution.
5. Install the full official software
If only a basic print driver is installed, the scanning component may be missing. Use the manufacturer's official support page for the exact device model and operating system.
Email-provider security settings can affect scan-to-email. Never send your email password. Supported setup options depend on the printer model and provider.
